Tepia designs mobile app interfaces and user experiences as the second phase of its six phase process, producing a design questionnaire, moodboards, a style guide, detailed wireframes and sample designs before any code is written. Tepia's design work is aimed at retention, and Tepia clients report apps averaging 4.5 stars on the App Store and Google Play.

Read: How to Develop an App From Idea to LaunchThe design phase typically runs 4 to 10 weeks and overlaps the 1 to 3 month Discovery phase, so sign off lands before engineering starts.

Google found that 53 percent of mobile visits are abandoned when a screen takes longer than three seconds to load.
About one in four installed apps is opened a single time and then abandoned, according to Localytics retention research.
Tepia clients report apps averaging 4.5 stars on the App Store and Google Play, the outcome the design phase is built around.
Lists of top app design agencies tend to rank by portfolio gloss. A better test is whether the agency’s designs survive contact with real users and real engineering. Tepia designs and builds under one roof, so the designers who draw the screens sit with the engineers who ship them and the project manager who tracks what users do after launch.
Tepia’s design leadership is US based, and a design lead is assigned to every engagement alongside the project manager and engineering lead. The team has designed apps for ministries (Daily Hope), wellness brands (The Work App), grocery chains (MNC Go), home improvement (RELI Solutions) and creator communities (Psych2Go), all on the Tepia portfolio.
Tepia calls its approach emotionally intelligent engineering. The question behind every screen is why a person would open this app tomorrow, and the design answers that before it worries about visual style.
Design at Tepia is a defined phase with named outputs, not a loose creative period. The table below lists what you receive and when.
| Deliverable | What it is | Typical timing | Your decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Design questionnaire | Structured questions on brand, audience, competitors, tone and must have features | Week 1 | Complete it with your team |
| Moodboards | Two or three visual directions built from your answers and competitor review | Weeks 1 to 2 | Pick a direction |
| Style guide | Color, type scale, spacing, iconography, component states, light and dark themes | Weeks 2 to 4 | Approve the system |
| Detailed wireframes | Every screen and state, including empty, loading and error states, mapped to User Stories | Weeks 3 to 7 | Review flow by flow |
| Sample designs | High fidelity screens for the core flows, plus a clickable prototype for user testing | Weeks 6 to 10 | Sign off before development |
Everything is delivered in Figma with a component library the Tepia engineers build from directly, which is why Tepia’s designs and shipped apps match.
Industry analysts consistently report that a large share of mobile apps are abandoned within the first few days after install. Tepia’s design phase is organized around preventing that, with specific practices rather than slogans.
Build more than an app, build loyalty. Tepia treats design decisions like these as the place where loyalty starts.
Design is phase two of Tepia’s six phase process, but it draws on phase one and feeds every phase after it.
Tepia designs to WCAG 2.1 AA by default: color contrast, touch target size, support for Dynamic Type on iOS and font scaling on Android, screen reader labels for VoiceOver and TalkBack, and flows that work without color alone conveying meaning. For healthcare, government adjacent and enterprise clients this is often a contractual requirement, and for everyone else it simply makes the app usable by more people.
Tepia also respects platform conventions rather than forcing one visual language on both stores. iOS designs follow Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and Android designs follow Material Design 3 where it matters (navigation, back behavior, system sheets), while sharing the brand system. This is especially relevant for cross platform apps, where Tepia documents the intended differences up front.
Every design decision at Tepia is also checked against App Store and Google Play review rules, so a flow that looks great in Figma does not get rejected at submission.
