Phoenix is one of the fastest growing metros in the country, and a large share of that growth is physical: new housing across the East and West Valley, distribution centers along Interstate 10, semiconductor fabs in the north, and a healthcare sector that keeps expanding to serve a growing and aging population. The businesses that serve that growth, especially HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pool, roofing and landscaping companies, run on trucks, technicians and phones.
Tepia serves Phoenix from its Las Vegas and Costa Mesa offices. Both are about an hour by air, which makes in person kickoffs and training practical, and both run on hours that line up with Arizona’s business day year round. Tepia has built custom apps for thirteen years and focuses on apps engineered for retention, meaning technicians and customers keep using them after the novelty wears off.
The Phoenix buyer Tepia works with most often is an owner or operations leader at a services company that has outgrown its vendor software, or an IT director at a healthcare or logistics organization that needs a mobile front end for systems it already runs.
Tepia runs six phases on every project: Discovery, Design, Development and Testing, Training, Launch and Support. The Tepia process page has the full description. For a Phoenix home services or operations app, the work looks like this.
Tepia investigates your current systems, interviews technicians, dispatchers, CSRs and owners, and reviews every third party integration from accounting to fleet tracking. Deliverables are an Investigation Summary, an Interview Summary and User Stories. Discovery typically takes 1 to 3 months and is shorter when you arrive with specs.
A design questionnaire, moodboards, a style guide, detailed wireframes and sample designs. Tepia designs for a technician in an attic in July: large targets, high contrast, minimal typing.
Alpha and Beta schedules with written test plans for functional, user acceptance and non functional testing, including offline first sync for areas with poor coverage. Development and QA typically take 2 to 6 months.
Hands on training in person in Phoenix or remote, using user story scenarios from your own jobs. Launch includes data migration from the old system and Tepia support reps on rollout, about 1 month, usually scheduled outside peak cooling season.
Tepia’s model is US leadership with individually sourced global talent. Your project manager, design lead and engineering lead are US based. Engineers are hand picked for your project, named on the roster, and work in hours that overlap with Arizona time. Tepia is not a body shop and does not rotate unknown developers through your code.
Meetings follow a set rhythm: a kickoff in Phoenix or over video, a weekly status call in your business hours, and sprint demos where you see working software. Between calls you have a shared backlog, a written changelog and a direct line to your project manager. Dustin Gordon, Director of Operations, and Fahad Baig, Technical Lead Manager, handle escalations.
Because Arizona does not observe daylight saving time, Phoenix lines up with Pacific time in summer and Mountain time in winter. Tepia’s Las Vegas and Costa Mesa teams overlap with both, so the meeting schedule does not shift on you twice a year.
Tepia builds in Swift and SwiftUI, Kotlin, React Native or Flutter depending on the product, with Node.js, .NET or Python backends on AWS, Azure or GCP, and integrates with ServiceTitan, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Salesforce, Stripe, Twilio and Zapier through REST and GraphQL APIs.
