Tepia builds custom apps for HVAC companies that have outgrown ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber: a technician app with equipment history and maintenance checklists, seasonal scheduling, maintenance agreement management and a customer app, integrated with QuickBooks or the platform you keep for billing.

Employment of HVAC mechanics and installers is projected to grow about 6 percent this decade, per the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Heating and cooling account for about half of the energy used in a typical US home, according to the US Department of Energy.
Apps Tepia clients publish average 4.5 stars on the App Store and Google Play, based on Tepia's published client outcomes.
For most HVAC companies under about 15 technicians, a platform like ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber or FieldEdge is the right answer, and Tepia will say so.
The calculus changes at three points. First, when per technician and per module fees cross into six figures a year and you are paying for features you do not use. Second, when the workflow you compete on, such as a maintenance agreement program with unusual terms, a multi brand or multi location operation, or a commercial service division with asset level reporting, does not fit the platform and your team works around it in spreadsheets.
Tepia’s answer is usually a middle path: keep the platform for billing and accounting if it works, and build the custom technician app, customer app or agreements engine on top of it. The full comparison is on custom field service app or ServiceTitan and the broader platform landscape is on ServiceTitan alternatives.
HVAC is not generic field service. Equipment has a lifespan, demand is seasonal, and the most valuable customers are on agreements. Tepia builds the modules below around those three facts.
Tepia has built comparable workflows for RELI Solutions in window and door replacement, where quoting, crews and installs mirror HVAC replacement work, and for Water Saver Solutions, where equipment level service history across healthcare facilities is the core of the product.
The technician app is where a custom HVAC build earns its keep. Tepia designs it for a technician standing in an attic in July with gloves on and no signal. The day view loads instantly from local data. Each job shows the customer, the equipment on site with its full history, the agreement status, and the checklist for the visit type. Readings are entered with large controls and validated against expected ranges. Photos are required where the checklist says so and attach to the unit, not just the job. The proposal builder turns a diagnosis into good, better, best options with financing in a few taps, and the customer signs on the tablet.
All of it works offline first. Status changes, readings, photos, signatures and payments are queued and sync when the truck gets back to a signal, with conflict rules agreed in Discovery. Tepia builds the app natively in Kotlin and Swift when rugged devices, barcode scanning or heavy camera use are involved, or in React Native or Flutter when one codebase fits. Tepia’s apps average 4.5 stars on the App Store and Google Play, and technician adoption is treated as the first success metric of every HVAC project.

Tepia runs HVAC projects through its six phase process with Discovery anchored in the field. User interviews include service technicians, installers, dispatchers, the office manager, a comfort advisor and a few agreement customers, with ride alongs where possible. Deliverables are an Investigation Summary, an Interview Summary and User Stories for every role and season.
Design produces a style guide, detailed wireframes for the technician app, dispatch board and customer app, and sample designs reviewed with technicians before code is written. Development and Testing runs on Alpha and Beta schedules: Alpha with the office, Beta with two or three technicians on live calls, under a written test plan covering functional, user acceptance and non functional testing including offline sync and peak season load.
Training is hands on at your shop or remote, using user story scenarios such as a spring tune up with a failed capacitor and a replacement proposal. Launch includes migration of customers, units and agreements, a transition period alongside the old system, and Tepia support reps on call during the first weeks, timed to land before a peak season rather than in it.
Every engagement has an assigned Tepia project manager, US based design and engineering leadership, and hand picked engineers working in US hours. The full process is at tepia.co/process.
Tepia has thirteen years of disciplined engineering and a field service practice that includes healthcare facility service and home improvement installs, which are the two closest cousins of HVAC work. Tepia builds the whole system, so one team is accountable for the result rather than a platform vendor and an app shop pointing at each other.
Tepia also builds for retention, which in HVAC means agreements renewed and customers who book the next visit from the app instead of searching for a competitor. Apps engineered for retention start with technicians who like using them and customers who trust what they see. The field service management software hub covers the wider module set if your business extends beyond HVAC, and plumbing and electrical contractor apps covers sister trades.
