Tepia was founded thirteen years ago and is headquartered in Costa Mesa, in the heart of Orange County. From there Tepia serves the whole state: Los Angeles and the Westside are about an hour north, San Diego is about ninety minutes south, and the Bay Area and Sacramento are a short flight or a video call away. Tepia also has offices in Tampa, Pittsburgh, Austin, Las Vegas and Kansas City, but California is home.
Tepia’s clients in California range from founders building a first product to IT directors at established companies replacing a system that no longer fits.
Leadership is US based: Abraham Agopian, Founder and CEO; Dustin Gordon, Director of Operations; Brianna Martison, Director of Engineering; and Fahad Baig, Technical Lead Manager. A project manager is assigned to every engagement.
California’s economy is broad enough that Tepia sees almost every vertical, but a few clusters come up repeatedly. In Los Angeles, entertainment, media and creator businesses need apps that serve large audiences and integrate video, community and subscriptions; Tepia’s work for Psych2Go, a YouTube creator community, and Vokl TV fits this pattern, and a Participant Media Director of IT said of Tepia, “If I could build an in-house team, it would be exactly like them.”
In Orange County and San Diego, healthcare facilities, medical device companies and wellness brands need HIPAA aware architecture; Water Saver Solutions, a fixture care and water conservation app for hospitals, and The Work App, a mental wellness app, are examples. A Newport Medical Solutions CIO noted, “We were impressed with Tepia’s genuine passion for their craft.”
Across the state, Tepia builds for retail and grocery (Mother’s Nutritional Center’s MNC Go ordering app), home improvement (RELI Solutions), manufacturing, field service, churches and ministries (Daily Hope for Pastor Rick Warren’s ministry audience, based in Orange County), and IoT companies such as Maximum Controls. Tepia also supports startups from Santa Monica to San Francisco with MVP builds and technical due diligence.
Tepia’s model is US led with individually sourced global talent. Project management, design leadership and engineering leadership are based in the United States. Engineers are hand picked for each project, not drawn from a bench, and they work in US overlapping hours so your team in Pacific time gets same day answers.
Meetings happen the way you prefer. For clients in Orange County, Los Angeles and San Diego, Tepia holds discovery workshops, design reviews and training sessions on site from the Costa Mesa office. For the Bay Area, Sacramento and the Central Valley, most meetings are by video with in person sessions at milestones such as Discovery kickoff and Launch. Weekly status calls, a shared project board and a named project manager are standard on every engagement.
This structure is why Tepia describes its work as emotionally intelligent engineering: the people making decisions about your product are reachable, accountable and in your time zone.
Every Tepia project follows six phases. Discovery (typically 1 to 3 months) includes system investigation, user interviews and third party integration review, with an Investigation Summary, an Interview Summary and User Stories as deliverables. Design covers a design questionnaire, moodboards, a style guide, detailed wireframes and sample designs.
Development and Testing runs on Alpha and Beta schedules with test plans for functional, user acceptance and non functional testing, including App Store and Google Play review compliance. Training is delivered in person in Southern California or remotely, using hands on user story scenarios. Launch covers data migration, transition from the old system and Tepia support reps on rollout.
California adds one specific requirement: the California Consumer Privacy Act. Tepia designs consent flows, data access and deletion requests, and data inventories into the product during Discovery and Design rather than bolting them on later, and applies the same discipline to GDPR where you have international users.
