Must Have WordPress Plugins

At Tepia Co, whenever we are building a WordPress site, these are the plugins we install immediately. Double check to see if you site has these plugins installed. If not install them today!

Faster Site:  W3 Total Cache

WordPress plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/w3-total-cache/

Official site: http://www.w3-edge.com/wordpress-plugins/w3-total-cache/

Immediately increase the load speed for your site. This is extremely important because, Google uses site speed as one of its factors to rank sites on their search engine (SEO).

After installing it you must turn on certain aspects such as page caching for the plugin to do its work.

Get Listed on Google, Yahoo, and Bing:  Google XML Sitemaps

WordPress plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/

Official site: http://www.arnebrachhold.de/projects/wordpress-plugins/google-xml-sitemaps-generator/

This plugin all will create an xml sitemap for your site. This is a file that logs all the pages of your site so that Google will be sure to list them all where appropriate. The plugin will also submit the xml file to all the major search engines to make sure your site gets listed.

Spam Protection:  Akismet

WordPress plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/akismet/

Official site: http://akismet.com/

This a default plugin that is already part of the WordPress package. Make sure it is enabled because this plugin will protect your posts from comment spam. This plugin works wonders and while we all love getting something for nothing we recommend paying for it to support this awesome plugin.

On-Site SEO:  All in One SEO Pack

WordPress plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/

Official site: http://semperplugins.com/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack-pro-version/

This plugin makes sure that all your posts and pages have unique meta titles, meta descriptions, and meta keywords based on the content of each page and post you make on WordPress. This is essential for Google search rankings. The entire goal of on-site SEO is to make sure Google bots understand what the site is about. Remember no human ever really looks at your site from Google. They have automated systems in place to understand what your site is about so this plugin helps them with analyzing your content and providing meta info for each page and post.
