Humans of Tepia: Trisha

Last time, we introduced you to Dustin: our project manager, in his own words.

Now it’s time to meet Trisha, another of our project managers, in her own words.

Trisha actually worked her way up through the company: she joined, initially, as an admin assistant, keeping the paperwork side of things moving, and now she still keeps the paperwork side of things moving, but on the tech and project management side.

Here’s Trisha, in her own words.

1. What’s your earliest tech memory?

I didn’t actually get into tech until much later in my life – unless we’re talking about fighting with my siblings over who could use the dial-up internet. The most significant tech memory I have is when I started learning how to do basic coding; I was part of a group of similar minded individuals and we all learned together and built these really fun, interactive applications.

2. What’s your day to day like?

My day to day involves starting the day with a run on the treadmill or walking the dogs, and then I start setting everyone up for the day. Making sure both dogs are fed, which is its own ritual where they get excited for breakfast, and then taking some time to organize my work day so I can tackle everything needed. I spend a few hours a day usually in meetings with clients, collaborating with developers or other team members. Then it’s all about managing the projects to make sure they are progressing and anything that is considered a blocker is discussed.

3. Developers are superstitious, and so are engineers. Do you have a favourite computer superstition or ritual that probably doesn’t work – but you still do it anyway?

When things stop working I like to click my mouse a lot, even though I know it won’t help the situation.

4. How did you end up working at Tepia?

I was in a web development and design position when I interviewed with Abe for a new opportunity. I started as an admin assistant and worked up to project manager.

5. What’s your favourite project that you’ve worked on so far?

I think my favorite project so far has been one that’s goal is to strengthen the relationship between two individuals. It takes into consideration the different moods you can be in so you can work with your partner to evolve into a better relationship.

6. What’s the office culture like?

Overall office culture is great. I don’t actually work in the physical office anymore but Abe and Dustin always have an open-door approach so we can troubleshoot and brainstorm anything that we have on our minds.

7. What’s your ultimate dream-big project – the one you’re working towards, the one that’ll blow all the other projects out of the water?

I would love to do a project that has to do with animals. Something that helps save shelter animals or doing some conservation of a species.
